Batman is back and he was in Leicester Square…

On Wednesday 18th of July, Leicester Square was the place to be in Europe for movie fans. The European Premiere of The Dark Knight Rises was held at the Odeon & Empire Leicester Square in London. The Dark Knight Rises is the longed-for conclusion of the Batman saga, the most eagerly film awaited of this summer.

Brit Movie Tours was there and has brought you back a lot of ‘souvenirs’ directly from the red carpet…

Surrounded by an army of Joseph Gordon-Levitt fans, we managed to find a small place up against the barriers and at 5.15 pm, it was show time!

Under heavy rain, Leicester Square was suddenly illuminated by a wonderful pyrotechnic display which ran throughout the entire premiere. After a very cinematic introduction and before welcoming the crew, we were treated to a noisy and impressive Batmobile demonstration, straight on the red carpet.

Before the arrival of the crew, we were lucky to catch a glimpse of the very friendly Matthew Lewis who played Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter films.

Another guest star,  Mister Guy Ritchie, the famous British director (Sherlock Holmes 1&2, Snatch, Rock’n’rolla…): and former Mr Madonna was also present.

Guy Ritchie was followed by Cillian Murphy, starring as Scarecrow in The Dark Knight Rises. Cillian Murphy is one of Christopher Nolan’s favorite actors and was recently playing Robert Fischer in Inception.

The French actress Marion Cotillard didn’t stay long on the ‘tapis rouge’ as she seemed to be frozen stiff under the onslaught of wind and rain.

Marion plays Miranda Tate in Christopher Nolan’s latest film. Miranda is a very rich and powerful woman who falls in love with Batman.

The beautiful Anne Hathaway portrays the legendary character from the DC Comics, Cat Woman! The actress spent a lot time studying the Catwoman character through the traditional comic book but in Nolan’s creation, the audience will  certainly have many surprises.

The charismatic but enigmatic Christian Bale is portraying Batman/Bruce Wayne for the third time. He’s always fascinated by his character, mythical but unhealthy as well. The British actor and producer came with his wife, Sibi Bale.

The British actor Tom Hardy, also seen in Inception as Eames. He has worked with Guy Ritchie in Rock’n’rolla, starring as ‘Handsome Bob’ and is now playing the very very bad guy in The Dark Knight Rises, Bane.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is another actor that we can see in both Inception as Arthur and in The Dark Knight Rises, as Robin.

Well, not exactly Robin…

Actually, Joseph is playing John Blake, a young police officer who helps Bruce Wayne fighting against Bane. There is a bit of mystery surrounding his character. In the comics, Robin is Dick Grayson and not John Blake. But as we said before, this film is full of mystery.

At last, Christopher Nolan walked the red carpet very briefly. This British director is undoubdtedly one of the best directors of all time but is also very discreet and mysterious.

The Dark Knight is coming back. The film is now released in the cinemas and it is time for us to unravel all theses mysteries…
