The Best Harry Potter Walking Tour in London

Step into the magical world of the Harry Potter Walking Tour of London, a must-do experience for fans of the wizarding world. This small group tour takes you through the heart of the capital to explore the real-life locations that inspired and appeared in the Harry Potter films. Led by a passionate, professional English-speaking guide who’s read all the books and watched every film (more than once!), you’ll uncover both iconic landmarks and hidden gems from the Harry Potter universe – with a few Fantastic Beasts spots thrown in too.

Whether you’re a lifelong Potterhead or just tagging along with one, this is a fantastic way to enjoy a couple of spellbinding hours in London. And since it’s a small group tour, you’ll enjoy a more personal experience with plenty of time for questions, photos, and fun.

Discover the Magic on the Harry Potter Walking Tour

Your magical journey begins inside Westminster Tube Station, just steps from the Houses of Parliament. Here, you’ll follow in the footsteps of Harry and Mr. Weasley as they head to the Ministry of Magic, before visiting the exact spot where Harry, Ron, and Hermione transformed using polyjuice potion in Deathly Hallows Part 1.

After exploring a few key sites in Westminster, you’ll hop on a short tube ride (sadly no broomsticks allowed!) to the City of London. Make sure each person in your group brings an Oyster card, contactless bank card, or Zone 1 Travelcard – kids 11 and under travel free.

In the City, your guide will take you to more iconic filming spots, including the stunning spiral staircase inside St Paul’s Cathedral (a.k.a. the entrance to Professor Trelawney’s Divination classroom), and the instantly recognisable Millennium Bridge, which met a dramatic end in The Half-Blood Prince. Don’t worry – it’s perfectly safe to cross!

You’ll also visit two of London’s oldest markets – both used as entrances to the Leaky Cauldron in The Philosopher’s Stone (or Sorcerer’s Stone if you’re visiting from across the pond).

See London Through the Eyes of a Wizard

As you walk, you’ll spot some of London’s most famous landmarks along the way. There’ll be plenty of photo opportunities, so feel free to come in costume – robes, scarves, or your favourite wand are all welcome!

This is a small group walking tour, so places are limited to keep things fun and interactive. Tours run in all weather, so wear comfy shoes, bring a water bottle, and maybe pack an umbrella just in case. There are no scheduled toilet breaks, but your guide can point out nearby facilities before and after the tour.

The adventure on your Harry Potter Walking Tour ends at the beautiful Leadenhall Market – right near Bank and Monument stations – which was used as the original Diagon Alley entrance. While we don’t visit Platform 9 ¾ during the tour, your guide will happily show you how to get there from the finish point and suggest other magical places to explore on your own.
