What started out as an idea on a train back to London, gradually grew, flourished and became a global sensation, creating 7 books, 11 films, 1 theatrical show, and an iconic name that sparks excitement whenever you hear it – Harry Potter.
A tour fit for magic and non-magic folk alike, you are invited to join us on the Harry Potter Locations Walking Tour of London. Your professional English-speaking guide – who has read all the books and seen all the films – will blend in with the other “non-magical” folks, and guide you around London’s most iconic and historic locations, as well as some hidden gems, featured in the globally successful “Harry Potter” films, as well as the more recent “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” trilogy.
A perfect way to spend a couple of hours in the British capital, whether you’re a fan or know someone who is, everyone is welcome.
Discover the secrets and history of the boy wizard
Your tour will last two and a half hours, and start at Westminster Tube Station, right by the Houses of Parliament. You will retrace the journey taken by Harry and Mr. Weasley on their visit to The Ministry of Magic. From here, your guide will lead you through Westminster, then on to the “Visitors Entrance” to the Ministry of Magic as seen in ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’. Just round the corner, you will discover the spot where Harry, Ron, and Hermione transformed using polyjuice potion in a scene from ‘the Deathly Hallows Part 1’.
As the locations are spread across the capital, you will need to take a short tube journey – sorry, no broomsticks or flying cars are allowed. You will need either: an Oyster card, a contactless credit/debit card, or a Travelcard valid in Zone 1, per person in your group. Children aged 11 and under travel for free.
After the tube journey, you will arrive in the City of London, and be taken to the magnificent St Paul’s Cathedral, hiding its spiral staircase that leads to Professor Sybil Trelawney’s Divination class. Then make sure you hold on as you cross the Millennium Bridge, as destroyed at the beginning of ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ – don’t worry, it’s still there.
You will also get to walk in Harry and Hagrid’s footsteps from ‘the Philosophers Stone’ (or ‘Sorcerer’s Stone’ for any visitors from the USA) as you visit the two of London’s oldest markets that housed the Leaky Cauldron pub.
See the iconic London landmarks as part of the tour
Along the route of the tour, you’ll have plenty of chances to take lots of pictures and see the filming locations up close, so feel free to come dressed up in your house robes, or bring your favourite characters wand too. As with all of our walking tours, group sizes are limited to 30 persons.
Our tours go ahead come rain or shine, so please be prepared with comfortable shoes, a bottle of water and perhaps an umbrella. There are no scheduled bathroom breaks during the tour, but there are public toilets available before and after – just ask your guide.
The tour will finish at Leadenhall Market, just round the corner from Monument and Bank tube stations. The tour doesn’t visit Platform 9 ¾ at King’s Cross Station, due to time and distance. However, your guide can give you details on how to get there safely from the finishing point, as well as suggest further hidden gems, toilet breaks and shopping opportunities to continue your Harry Potter London adventure.
