Join fans of the show on this fun and entertaining Derry Girls Tour from Belfast exploring many of the filming locations featured in the world of Erin, her friends and family. Set in Derry in the early 1990s before peace broke out the show follows the lives of four teenage Derry girls – Erin, Orla, Clare, Michelle as well as the wee English fella James.
**LAUNCHING IN 2022**
The show is filmed in 2 cities in Northern Ireland – Derry and Belfast making the Derry Girls Tour from Belfast the most comprehensive tour available.
For those fans wishing to depart from Belfast the tour departs from central Belfast at 9:30am and you will visit several locations including Erin’s house, the shop where Gerry had trouble picking up his photos, the interior of Dennis’s wee shop. Then you will head north west out of Belfast to Derry, the spiritual home of the show. Along the way you will have time to watch a couple of episodes and stop off en route at Peggy’s Diner where hopefully we don’t bump into Emmett the stowaway.
On arrival in Derry you will have a chance to enjoy lunch in the city that was first awarded a UK City of culture status.
For those wishing to start the tour in Derry you will meet your guide at the Derry visitor centre and then head off on a walking tour to see numerous locations including the actual presidential address by Clinton seen at the end of Series 2, the city walls, the Derry Girls mural, the exterior of the church where the miracle happens, the site of Dennis’s wee shop. Plus you will get a great view of the bogside area in the street the Derry girls take on their way to school.
Then you’ll get on the coach and you will stop at the hotel where the cast and crew stay at when filming in Derry and try a cream horn whilst you drop by. But don’t get spotted on Pump Street. You will also see the real Derry schools that formed the inspiration for the show and where writer Lisa McGee attended. For those who joined the tour in Derry you will be dropped back in Derry city centre and for those who joined in Belfast you can be dropped off back in the centre of the city with the option of a drop off at the location used as Fionnulas fish and chip shop.
