Fans of Downton Abbey will have a chance to fully immerse themselves in this incredible two day tour, which will showcase the wonderful filming locations used in the making of the show.
This small group tour will take in the main locations featured in the show. You will get to hear anecdotes about the cast, filming and production, transporting you into the world of the Crawley family. Places are strictly limited to 6 per tour.
Depart from central London. The day will start with a guided tour of the manor house used as the grand interior of Haxby Park, the grand mansion which very nearly became the home of Sir Richard Carlisle and Lady Mary. You will then visit the 11th century farmstead that was used as the home of Mr Drewe where Lady Edith’s daughter was initially raised.
From here, you will get to explore pictureseque Cotswold villages in Oxfordshire that were used, amongst other things, as the pub where Bates works after leaving Downton, where Branson and Lady Sybil elope and the beautiful village used as the setting for Downton village. Here, you’ll see locations such as the hospital, post office, local pub, church and the home of the Crawleys.
You will then return to London.
Your day will begin with a guided tour of numerous London film locations including the Ripon riot scenes; the exteriors of Matthews law firm and ‘Manchester home’, the location that stood in for the Grand Hotel, Liverpool where Lady Mary and Lord Gillingham secretly stayed and many other sites.
You will also see the exterior of the ‘London’ home of the Crawleys in central London, before heading out of London to the grand finale of your 2 day Downton tour – Downton Abbey itself! You will have a chance to take lunch and tour around the house and grounds of Highclere Castle, before finally heading back to London.
