Fans of Downton Abbey will have a chance to fully immerse themselves in this incredible two day tour which will showcase the wonderful filming locations used in the making of the show.
This small group tour will take in the main locations featured in the show. You will get to hear anecdotes about the cast, filming and the production and transport yourself into the world of the Crawley family. Places are strictly limited to 11 per tour.
Depart from central London. The day will start with a guided tour of the manor house used as the grand interior of Haxby Park, the grand mansion that very nearly became the home of Sir Richard Carlisle and Lady Mary. You will then visit the 11th century farmstead that was used as the home of Mr Drewe where Lady Edith’s daughter was initially raised.
From here you will get to explore pictureseque Cotswold villages in Oxfordshire that were used amongst other things as the pub where Bates works at after leaving Downton, where Branson and Lady Sybil elope and the beautiful village used as the setting for Downton village. Here you’ll see locations such as the hospital, post office, local pub, church and the home of the Crawleys.
Upon returning to London you will be able to check in at your accommodation which will be in a comfortable boutique hotel located in an 18th century property. Dinner will be held at Londons oldest restaurant where Lady Edith and Michael Gregson go on their first date in Series 4 and also where Edith, Mary, Tom and Rose go to lunch and Rose receives a letter with photos of Atticus with a woman in Series 5.
Following a hearty breakfast at your 4* 18th century accommodation the day begins with a guided tour of numerous London film locations including the Ripon riot scenes; the exteriors of Matthews law firm and ‘Manchester home’, the location that stood in for the Grand Hotel, Liverpool where Lady Mary and Lord Gillinghams secretly stayed and many other sites.
You will also see the exterior of the ‘London’ home of the Crawleys in central London before heading out of London to the grand finale of your 2 day Downton tour – Downton Abbey itself. You will have a chance to take lunch and tour around the house and grounds of Highclere Castle before finally heading back to London.
