The Doctor Who Cardiff Bay Walking Tour is a must for any fan of the iconic British sci-fi series. This vibrant area of Cardiff has been a central hub for the show’s production since its 2005 revival, making it a treasure trove of memorable scenes and landmarks that will delight Whovians of all ages.
The tour will start just outside the entrance to the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay where scenes from New Earth, The Girl Who Waited, The Sound of Drums, and Vincent and the Doctor have featured. You’ll immediately recognize Roald Dahl Plass, an expansive public plaza that has frequently doubled as the entrance to the underground Torchwood Hub. This spot is synonymous with thrilling chases and pivotal moments from both Doctor Who and its spin-off, Torchwood.
As you stroll along the waterfront, your guide will point scenes from numerous Doctor Who episodes. The Senedd, home to the Welsh Parliament, boasts a futuristic design that has made it a perfect backdrop for alien invasions and political intrigue including its big role in “The Lazarus Experiment”.
The Doctor Who Cardiff Bay Walking Tour will take in the exterior of the BBC Studios at Roath Lock which was the home of Doctor Who between 2012 and 2021.
